13 Reasons Why is Coming to Netflix

I think every author’s dream is to have Netflix adapt their book. Jay Asher and his book 13 Reasons Why have officially realized that dream.

I passed 13 Reasons Why on the shelves for years but I never picked it up because it sounded like your average slice of life YA about bullying and depression – none of which are my cup of tea. But now Netflix is telling me it’s mysterious, spooky and dark and like a good little lemming I must watch it now.

I didn’t used to care about Netflix. I share an account with my co-worker. I can’t even spell Netflix unless I look it up. But now, I will give any show they produce a chance. While I am not a big slice of life/teen drama fan, I am willing to give 13 Reasons Why and Netflix a chance to win me over because their track record with YA has been excellent. A Series of Unfortunate Events? Every episode was a treat for the eyes and ears. City of Bones? They didn’t screw that up half as much as the movie did, so that’s a win in my books.

Watch the trailer if the book has never seemed like your jam. It draws you in with an eerie, early 90’s vibe and you can feel that Netflix binge watching session creeping up to steal all your time.
